GENERAL FACTS ABOUT CORFU

Corfu, the mythical island of the Phaecians, is situated in the North West of Greece and is the biggest of the Ionian Islands. The town of Corfu is in the middle of the island. There are about 110,000 local inhabitants, a number that rises substantially during Easter and summertime due to the large influx of visitors.

There is plenty to do and to enjoy on the island.
The old town is a unique place of cultural world heritage, drowned in classical venetian buildings that give way to the magnificent Liston archway. This is where you may hear the island’s colourful bands playing beautiful march-songs or sad religious processions. You may also visit Kanoni and enjoy the view of the Pontikonisi (mouse island).

The entire island is surrounded by beautiful beaches, stony, sandy or rocky. The locals take good care of them and this is why most carry the Blue Flag of the European Union that proves how clean they are.
